One of my favorite times of year is almost upon us... my birthday! I love my birthday, not because of presents, but that I get to spend time with all my loved ones on a sanctioned personal holiday. This is also my first birthday as an engaged woman, which is its own level of exciting. Plans are underway for a winter burgundy and black wedding, and a cabin getaway. We're looking to start our nest egg, so I'm releasing the latest Elizabeth Kidder: Illustrator piece on Society6, Pangolin Sun! Available in a variety formats, Pangolin Sun can be yours, and with Free Shipping for a limited time! Also, "Key to the Soul" is retiring after making the gallery rounds, matted and framed for $300. ![]() Yesterday, in addition to it being my six-year anniversary with Aaron, and the NY Giants winning yet another game, the internet seemed to be hopping as visitors to www.elizabethkidder.com on October 21 soared past all previous records to hit 129 views! And as a thank you to all my amazing visitors, I'll be giving away leftovers from AdventureCon, including but not limited to - postcards, prints, stickers and some adorable wristbands. All you have to do is comment on this blog post, or on the link on my Facebook page, and tell me what you did on October 21, 2012. Just for posting, you'll get an www.elizabethkidder.com teal wristband you can wear proudly, in support of me. The ten responses I like most will receive a special grab bag of merch! You have all week to post, but it will only last as long as the wristbands hold out, so post fast, and post well! As those who have played Apples to Apples with me can attest to, funny always wins with me. :) My first foray into the cut paper technique as an actual, physical creation, and not just a bunch of Photoshop layers. Created within a photo box, it details the memory of my first kiss, and I enjoyed it so much (both the box and the kiss) that I want to extend it into a series of many different boxes, holding many different memories.
So, first off, my boy made a special trip to see me this weekend, which would have been enough of win for me. But, life had more win in store for me, it seems. ![]() Tuesday and Thursday mornings, I walk to my 8 am class. This Thursday, as I walked by the Civic Center, I saw on the steps a giant yellow...something. Upon closer examination, it was a giant inflated lemon. On the side of the lemon, it said "Take me to the nearest McDonald's and get FREE Frozen Strawberry Lemonade for a year." Needless to say, I was STOKED. And when we brought it into McDonald's, everyone applauded, made us frozen strawberry lemonades on the spot, and we stopped everyone working at the Mickey D's to take a group photo with the lemon. Last weekend, I went home to see my little sis Megan complete her Confirmation in the Church, which was wonderful to see, as nice as any graduation. While I was gone, though, several events occurred at school. I went to the SAC meeting on Tuesday, to find out that I had been chosen at a SCAD Leadership Banquet as SAC Member of the Year, which was a really unexpected honor. Also, the Artemis came out, in which I have one more poem than last year, so, two poems. :) But again, an honor. ![]() On Thursday night, Aaron and I went to the Return of the Munny Show at the Student Center. There were about 25 in the show, and they were all fabulous, it was hard to pick which ones (besides our own) we thought were the best. But, I'm happy to say that my Beauty and the Beast Munny's won runner up in the Color category. There were many fabulous Munny's there though, including Aaron's which involved a silver metallic Munny suspended in the air by twisted wires, named Cracked, which should have won for Design. So, because he deserves it, here it is featured below. And, as if that wasn't enough, I found a place to live next year! It really is quite lovely, but when I went a bunch of boys were living there, so there was stuff EVERYWHERE. When I move in at the end of the quarter, I'll post some pics of my soon-to-be first apartment. :D
And, besides all that, I completed two more photo shoots for my collaboration with Abi Grise (one of which was Aaron, thanks again babe), and I had a lovely anniversary dinner at Macaroni Grill, which is one of the best restaurants in my opinion because what other place would not only let you draw on the table, but provide you with the crayons to do so? Of course, now I have to get back to school and homework and all that non-win nonsense, but basking in the afterglow of my weekend of win, the next few weeks don't scare me. :) |
