It's Valentine's Day, and there are many people who have a problem with that. Four groups appear right around this time. We have the single and proud group, those who have little tolerance for the mushy gushy and don't care to admit the necessity of romance. Then we have the single and desperate, who see the passing of Valentine's Day as a booming death toll, evidence of a serious affliction that has kept them from fulfillment and propelled them into a tub of ice cream and a night of rom-coms. And then we get those who are in a relationship, but view Valentine's Day as a horrible test of a couple's strength based on the monetary value of gifts given or the number of roses, those who toot the horn that you should love your partner every day, why place so much importance on one day out of 365? And, of course, those who take Valentine's Day waaaay too seriously, who make the other three groups exist at all.
I'd like to take this day to remind us all, no matter what group you fall into, that there is another way. You can be the person who sees Valentine's Day as a reminder, of all those you love and those who love you. I sent out handmade Valentine's Day cards to many of my family and friends, just to let them know I was thinking of them, and that there are many kinds of love, all rewarding. So, Happy Valentine's Day, to everyone. That means you, haters. :)
